In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Restaurant has ample parking. We went for breakfast and menu had a wide variety of choices. Food was really good. Prices were average. Service was friendly and welcoming
I was here when they first opened, and they are still doing pretty well, other than their problems with old plumbing in their bathrooms. The food is on point and the servings are plentiful. The ambience is cute and pleasant. Any (pronounced, Annie) was our server. She kept our beverages full and saw to our every need while we were there. Her cheerful demeanor, and songful speech lifted our spirits this morning. She was a delight in every way.

Went to this establishment the afternoon of Sunday February 25. Service from the start was excellent. Our server Valeria couldn't have been more superb. My other guest recognized her from some other restaurant and asked if she had worked someplace else. She informed us she had also worked at the Murrieta location. I made a comment that she should be a trainer or be an example of how the customer experience would be with a server. It was OK, the building is really cute, clean and nice. Parking is horrible on the weekends. Lol The food was mediocre. My son had the chicken (strips) and waffles, they were both dry, my husband had the burger and he said there was nothing special about it. I had their taco salad with ground beef and it was huge and good, the meat has good flavor I ordered the ranch made in house that was delicious. Fries were eh, grand daughter had chocolate chip pancakes that had more chips than batter. She did not eat it. My coffee was ... read more
