In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. The place was packed when I got there at 11:30am, had to wait for table which was not long, only 20 minutes.. Then the wait began... service staff was pretty good and friendly, took my order and even told me that food might take 30 minutes.. I was ok waiting that long as this was my first visit.. then about 12 minutes she brought me a salad.. the 45 minutes later my good finally arrived.. the place had thinned out by noon.. but the takeout orders where like a train.. I will no longer return to a place that feels more incline... read more

Came in with my son for dinner, waited 10 minutes thinking maybe they're just "busy"... then I noticed the waiter taking the order of a couple that came in a few minutes after us. Looked again and they had drinks too, we waited 20 minutes before deciding to leave.

At 2:00 pm on a Friday the customer service was trash. They were unstaffed and just had workers walking around talking to each other and not helping customers. Once i received food it was not to bad. They give u a lot of food. The inside reminds me of a cabin with a bear theme.

Door Dash order of meatloaf dinner and pancake breakfast with carrot cake and Sierra Mist: missing from the order was the pancake breakfast, the mashed potatoes and the Sierra Must. The carrot cake turned into chocolate cake (4 layers instead of the advertised 5). This all came to over $50. Unbelievable!!!!

We are going to have breakfast as a family at this restaurant, and with the big surprise that the waiters do not want to serve anyone
