I have been to several Black Bear Diners, but never took the time to review one. Ours was not a good experience, so I am taking the time to review so the management will know and take corrective actions. It took 15 minutes to be adequately acknowledged and seated. Then, we had random preoccupied servers who did not do simple tasks, like refilling coffee, bring a side, etc. My food was not warm or "fresh," but tough. Walked in the restaurant. It smelled like sewage. I would recommend checking the healthy and safety. We turned around and walked out, this was on 12/20/2024.

Waiter for 30 minutes,my position on the stalled even though people were being seated. The last straw was one of waitresses had family show up 15 minutes after me she then waved them in from the dining area without calling any name and they were seated I asked the person at the check in area how many are running told her what happened she didn't seem to care I then told I thought that was horse shit and left so wasted 30 min of my life and left

Went in today for lunch and got told that it would be a 40-45 minute wait. I ended up having to wait longer than that because the kitchen was backed up. How is that our fault? The manager should be able to strategize how to run the day smoothly with the employees so they don't become stressed on everyone waiting. All I saw was the employees running around stressing about the backed up kitchen and the long wait times and the manager was nowhere to be seen.

Our waitress was very attentive. The food is "okay" but lacks attention, such as not cooking lettuce in a sandwich. One large concern is the hostess who handles the payments, turns right around and handles all the silverware wrapping them in napkins. Manager doesn't seem to help with any cleanup and tables sit uncleared.
