My family and I dined in last night and tonight, although our experience tonight was cut short because half of the menu items could not be served due to not having food in stock so we only paid for our drinks and left. We witnessed many customers complaining and even giving the servers a hard time which ruined the entire atmosphere and was unpleasant for us all. For the record, I emailed them before posting here. I tried to let them know about this experience privately, but they ignored me. I had the single-worst dining experience I've had in years at the Black Bear Diner in Turlock on 11/26/21 between 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Our waiter took our drink order right away, but it took somewhere between 35-45 minutes for our waiter to take our meal order. There was a couple that was seated immediately before us who got their food and left before we even placed our order. We finall... read more

I love black bear diner In modesto, was in Turlock and decided to stop in for breakfast. First I showed up with my family, stood there for 5 min with no acknowledgement, until the girl ringing up bills (who already looked annoyed) finally grabs a host from the back to help seat people. This guy comes out and takes 2 families who came in after us and seats them first and he didn't even acknowledge us before he tried taking a 3rd family before us. I was really hoping the place would be good, but it wasn't, service is. Three items on the menu they were Out of. Hamburger patty two eggs and hashbrowns, $21? No way too bland and not good enough!
I was really hoping the place would be good, but it wasn't, service is. Three items on the menu they were Out of. Hamburger patty two eggs and hashbrowns, $21? No way too bland and not good enough!
Picked up a to-go order this evening. Had to sit and wait 20 minutes passed my pick up time. And the food was horrible. Ribeye was over cooked and tasted only like onion powder. Baked potato was also over cooked and didn't even come with butter. Maybe if a waitress hadn't been in the kitchen flirting and horsing around with the cooks, it would have been better. Won't be returning.
