We both ordered a "small" dinner - tri-tip (which was quite chewy) and chicken-fried steak (which was good). Potatoes, gravy and green beans were delicious. Amount of food was plenty. Split a bread pudding - it was also good. If you need a substantial meal - this is the place for you. Service was slow - but they had a couple of large parties.

Came to Black Bear Diner for breakfast during our trip to Utah. We have one back home and Texas but I had never gone to one. The portions are HUGE!!! The flavor is bold! And the variety is well rounded. My group of 4 all ordered 4 different meals and shared because it was all so good. Make sure you go hungry because the portions are enough for 2. We had plenty of left overs for later. I loved everything and it made for an awesome breakfast that filed us through our upcoming hikes.

Here's the deal. Staff was wonderful. Ashley served us and she was new but spectacular. She was sweet, easy to communicate with and on top of everything. However, this is a restaurant so the review has to include the food. The burger was dry, the bacon was too crunchy to the point where I couldn't chew through it and the fries where mushy. Just okay food honestly. But if you are craving breakfast foods that's a good place to go when your options are more limited.

We stopped in here for a late breakfast while in the St. George area. It was a Monday and around 11.30 am, and the place was very busy. It took a while for the server to get to us, but we ordered, and the food came out relatively quickly. I ordered the 8oz smoked brisket with 2 poached eggs. This also came with cheesy grits, a massive side of hashed browns and a pancake larger than my face. They serve warm maple syrup and that was really good. The portion sizes here are definitely on the bigger side, so make sure to be hungr... read more

For me this place is more of a novelty. The food isn't bad - it's heavy. Our waitress was stellar and the place was nice and clean. The menus were paper and tattered - a little icky for me since I have no idea who's hands were on them before mine. No gluten free options - had basic fried eggs, grits and hash browns. There isn't anything unique or special in my mind about this place except maybe the giant biscuits. They looked delicious. Lots of parking and easy to find.

My girl KO and I had an awesome dining experience at Black Bear diner on 4/19/21. Emily is an outstanding server and really treated us well. Rodney was also very kind and helpful. The salmon dinner with vegetables was excellent and my tri tip was delicious. The portions were large and made for another to go meal. I highly recommend this place, especially after a long hike at Zion National Park
