Service and place is good looking but 11$ for a grilled chicken salad is too much when the salad looks like a Truck Stop salad.! That 1 Star is for the kind waitress who served us... If you need a different looking expensive restaurant than this is the right place for you... (but eat smthng before you come here.!)
I love Black Bear Diner! But the West Valley, UT location wasn't my favorite. They told us a 15-20 minute wait for our group of 6, after waiting a good 30 minutes, I went up to see what was going on, turns out our name was never even put down!! Then when we got sat, took forever to get our food, we had to ask for items we needed more of about 3 times before we received them. There was a hair on one of the plates, and everything just took all long. I probably won't be headed back to that location for a while!!
We went on Friday night, it was steady but not crazy busy. Server was very friendly. You could tell she was busy, but she did a good job keeping our drinks full. She kept apologizing about the food taking too long... It honestly wasn't that long... But her constantly apologizing to us and to the other tables made it more apparent. We walked in and waited to be seats. And waited. And waited. And waited. It wasn't busy. No one greeted us or asked how many were in our party. I've been to other locations for this restaurant and had a great experience. I won't go to the West Valley location again. Five people standing at the counter, looking over at us, and no one can even say hi and they'll be right with us? Customer service goes a long way. But you have to have it in order to use it. I waited 30 min before i got a drink or a chance to order on a slow night. Salad was different from what i ordered steak had no flavor. Came out undercooked then asked for a new one they took the same one that i cut into recooked it and sent it back out overcooked. It was not a good experience
I can't tell you what the food is like since we sat for 35 minutes and never got served. 9:30 at night and maybe 10 tables. We had every wait staff and manager walk bye us, look at us but just couldn't wait on us.
