In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. We visited yesterday afternoon Food and service good BUT on leaving the cashier was asking for donations to AZ Sparkles ?? She was really quite rude when we said no thank you. She then went on to suggest we could donate $2. I'm sorry but we don't go out to eat to be pressured into giving people money when we don't want to. Just lost yourself a customer
In reading some of these reviews from August and September, I can tell that my experience was not unique and the staff still hasn't gotten it together. We arrived and were seated. And then ignored for five to ten minutes, no offer of a drink order or any contact. Of course, we are watching other people arrive and be seated and they are waited on while we sit. My office has gotten take out a few times, the first time our food was jam packed into containers and the food was spilling out all over. The second time they had better containers, bit the most recent, today, again packed into small containers. Fries were soggy because they were thrown on top of a hot, well warm, sandwich w a slice of watermelon shoved into one of the pieces of bread. The hostess was super unpleasant as well and forgot sides, a drink and silverware. The food isn’t too bad but the service needs work.
OK a little more training for their staff, very slow service but polite and friendly. No hostess or greeter as you walk in.
