On Sunday 10/20/2019 my cat was in need of immediate care. I called, Dr Brian Spain explained the possible options, and set a time to meet me. Unfortunately my cat passed away before the visit. I called him, he was very understanding of my loss. I needed proper disposal at that time for my cat. He explained every option at that point, and I decided of what was appropriate. We took our 4.5 lb. poodle/papillon to the Blue Valley Animal hospital after she was attacked and mauled by a 100 lb. lab/shelter dog owned by a neighbor. Both dogs were on leashes but the large lab got out of his collar and the owner was not able to control him. Dr. Spain was very compassionate and took excellent care of our dog. We were given detailed explanations of her injuries and the estimates of how long she would be hospitalized. First off, the place is really clean! Secondly, our dog is not the easiest and it is so nice that they have a side entrance so my dog can come in without all the anxiety of seeing people in the lobby. It's a great touch. Dr. Spain is wonderful. So patient and kind. To both animals and they humans! He truly took his time with us instead of riding in and out and letting the tech handle everything. Blue Valley Animal Hospital is the most genuine animal care I have ever received. They took my fur baby and I in on Christmas Eve for an emergency. My dog was hit by a car and they were the only place who would see her that late. Since then, they have been nothing but supportive and loving through the process. Everyone greets ruby when she walks in and says goodbye when she leaves, they really make you and your pet feel special. Very good vet. I contacted them through Yelp and they responded quickly and were very friendly. I was looking for a new vet for my dog, she needed her yearly checkup and vaccines. On the day of the appointment, I was helped quickly, the techs and vet were very nice to me and my pup and we were out of there in 30 minutes!
It pains me that we didn't find out about Blue Valley Animal Hospital until the last year of our dogs life. The first 14 years we went with the national chain, and their monthly "wellness" program, that makes you think you are getting a good deal, but your really just prepaying for average service. We would have a different vet there every other visit too who wouldn't know our dog. We have been seeing Dr. Spain for almost two years now, and we couldn't ask for a better experience. He takes the time to answer all of my questions (I usually have a lot) and I don't feel rushed during appointments. My dog tends to be nervous, but Dr. Spain and the rest of the staff are always very patient and understanding with him. We've not been going here for 18 months with 3 English bulldogs that have had MANY health problems from a torn ACL to a swallowed whole marrow bone. Some of the things Dr. Spain could not help with and we had to go to a specialist but what is important is that he knew right way what was going on. We have also had to call him after hours for emergencies--once they all OD'd on something :( They get into mischief and he stayed and watched them into the night.
