John was superb and managed to find the right car and price for us. John was attentive and responsive. John also managed thru an ugly situation with the sales manager of pre-owned BMW cars who was far less than friendly and border-line unprofessional. If it was not for John - we would have taken our business to another BMW dealer, if fact we did just buy another 525xi at another dealer b/c I didn't want to deal with the used car manager who acted - well -- like a used car dealer not a BMW dealer. Very efficient, straight forward, no silly games and no "sales cliche's". As part of my career I manage a significantly large global sales force and there is nothing that turns me off more than a fake (which by no accident we term as "used car salesman"). In the case of Jim Affannato (and Kosta Pappas on the Finance side) there was none of that; only no nonsense, substance, and "good guy" honesty. I was shopping for a new BMW 328xi and had a terrible experience at Herb Chambers. The sales person and the manager tried playing the "bait & switch" game with me since the model that I wanted wasn't available at the dealership. When I turned down the final offer because it was missing the security system that I wanted, the manager told me that he was "done with me". I came recently to purchase a new 2010 5 series. Given that 2011 models are starting to come out, I figured I could find a great value. These guys gave me a huge run around. All they were concerned with is making sales numbers and didnt really care to listen to what I was looking for or provide any customer service. In addition they played lots of "games" around price which soured me on the whole car buying experience. They pushed me so hard to purchase one of their vehiles that I chose to leave and work with another dealer.

The whole experience with this dealer was terrible!!! Customer service was non-existent (until after I walked out). I was attempting to purchase my vehicle (2007 BMW 328xi) as it is coming off lease in the next 30 days. I wanted to have the vehicle certified (go through the BMW CPO process) so that I could take advantage of extending the warranty coverage as well as favorable financing. The reason I have logged into this site and given this dealership a very poor rating is for the following reasons: I have been a customer of Foreign Motors West for 15 years and can say without a doubt, since the new management has moved in, customer service has vanished. The quality and level of professionalism is gone as well. This dealer has changed into a high pressure sales force which won't leave you alone. After searching for months looking for the right Certified Pre-Owned X3, we finally found it online at Herb Chambers/FMW.
