My husband and I usually have an awesome experience here and have been coming since they opened. This visit was an exception to the rule. Our service was very poor and the recommended food selections were all unsubstantial and unsatisfying. It was a disappointment for a place we consider a favorite. I'm sure we will revisit Boca, but we will just wait awhile.
The concept is a good one - farm to table restaurant. But the delivery lacked experience. We sat for 20 minutes until our server came to the table. After we ordered, it took one hour for the food, and the restaurant was not crowded! No one seemed to care! My mussels were not hot and appeared to be overcooked. First, the place seems really cool and maybe we just hit an off day. But we went in for brunch on a Sunday around noon. Wasn't very busy, and they had bottomless mimosas, we thought "hey, why not?" So we ordered those, but the first round took nearly twenty minutes, and were maybe 1/4 full. Fine. We dined at Boca yesterday, Sunday. After an unexpectantly busy day, we booked a table last minute. Our reservation was admittedly at an odd hour, 5:00, very late lunch and very early dinner time. When we arrived the restaurant was almost empty which was to be expected. We were immediately seated. We were seated in the bar area initially and it was very very loud - too loud. they moved us to a back room which was much better. Appetizers were very nice and they also poor a good cocktail. However it all went down hill from there. Main courses were terrible. One of our party ordered the meatloaf and when it came out is was burned to a crisp and uneatable. Made a reservation for my huband and me a couple of weeks prior to Mother's Day for brunch. Looked forward to it and dressed up a bit for the event. Upon arrival, women were being presented with a long stem rose. I was over-looked, forgotten, or just not important. Had to ask the waiter for one later. Brought out the wrong order and food was not good.
We were a party of six and sat in a comfortable booth - table 54 waited by Stephen on 1/23/2016 to be exact. The ladies cocktails came out quickly but the guys cocktails took forever. We asked for bread and it never came out. We should have predicted it would go downhill from there. We ordered appetizers and they were tasty. I love the idea of Boca, but have yet to be impressed after 4 different visits. I order the fish special, which sounded fabulous -- fresh shrimp served over bok choy and mushrooms. However, the dish was something I could have made in my kitchen for under $5... Yet the dish cost $32.00. The food is way too expensive for what you get.
