Relatively simple menu with delicious choices in a diner atmosphere. Not too noisy, and pleasant service. The pea soup (with hot dogs) is a taste treat. Reservations recommended.
Staff is very nice. Food is mediocre. Service was slow. One person ordered a burger rare -- it was basically raw. Fortunately, he likes tartares.
When we visited NYC we wanted an old style diner. This place was great. Food and service was excellent. Definitely worth a visit
We've eaten at the Brooklyn Diner in the past, and chose to have our last breakfast there before heading back to New England. The diner was literally a short walk from our hotel. The eggs benedict with smoked salmon was excellent and the pancakes were also very good. We knew before we even arrived in NYC that we would be eating there for at least one meal.
Disappointing to find there was no draft beer and bottled beer offering was imported lager. The cheesecake was excellent and the host and server was very good. Great environment but the pastrami sandwich was not brilliant. Would I go again? Maybe if they had a beer. Is it worth a visit? Yes..
We love the Brooklyn Diner, especially when we are headed for a performance at Carnegie Hall or the New York City Center. Is this high-end gourmet cuisine? No. Is it fantastic dinner food. You bet. And my food ratings are based on that view. All that said, however, the chocolate cake would rate a 5+ in any restaurant of any class anywhere in the world. IMHO.
I would add more options to the breakfast menu, everything else was good!
Although this is definitely a touristy place, it's also awesome food. We had the chicken soup and the pea soup, both wonderful. Pastrami Reuben, Salmon and Noodle Kugel, all so very very delicious. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was scrumptious.
Outstanding service; very accommodating with special requests. So happy that they opened after their renovations in time for our NYC visit!!!
