Good household printer I got tired of paying $50 for replacement ink cartridges for my old ink jet printer. This machine prints quickly and with good quality. You will get a lot more pages out of a toner cartridge for this printer than you would from ink jet cartridges, at about 1/10 the price per page. Great printer, great price I bought this printer a couple of months ago based on the great reviews. Like most have said, this is a great printer to have in a small office or at home. Unlike many others, I had no problems with the software on my windows 7 computer. The scanner, printer, fax all work great and having it hardwired to my wireless router made it very easily into a wireless printer from which I can print to from anywhere in the house. All in one for a good price! Got this on sale for $99 elsewhere (BB). I wanted a wireless one however they were either more expensive or reviews were not too shabby. Installation was a breeze, latest drivers got downloaded from Brother web site and installed alright on Windows 7 X86 and x64. I plugged the printer on a switch and connected a wireless to Ethernet adapter in order to be able to print from wherever in the house. This setup works very well. Very glad I bought this for iMac and PC network I bought this printer because my old lexmark inkjet no longer has available drivers for my mac and was not network ready. This printer is wired network ready and since I have available ports on my router, it saved me $100.00 over the wireless network printer so that was a no brainer. good printer overall I owned a MFC-7820n for five years prior to this and I'd have say this one's faster and quieter than the 7820. The color scanner is better and faster too. I don't really find it very noisy. I mean, it is a printer. The 7820 printed on waxy paper without clumping and this one clumps. Most people won't care about that but since I do a considerable amout of ebaying, it's nice to be able to print on half sheets without smudges on the next page that prints out. Quiet printer with decent OCR capability I have found my Brother printer to be quiet and energy efficient. I noticed that one of the top reviewers suggested that the printer is noisy and a current hog, but I find the opposite. I'm suspecting that he has a defective machine. Anyway, the print quality is very good with this product at 300dpi, and the scan quality is good for documents--even color documents.
