This machine does not owe me anthing ... but yet it is still working This has been a great printer, copier and fax machine. I bought this model printer sometime in 2013. Two Stars The machine stopped working 28 months later
Works great except for copies, since I put non-brand toner. BS"D I've had this machine for many many years and it worked great: copying, faxing and scanning. However, I bought a non-brand Toner and now the copies are gray and blotchy, awful. I tried to follow directions on cleaning the drum, got even worse. It's out of warranty. It looks like I'll have to replace the whole unit because the parts are very expensive and no guarantee they'll work better. Otherwise the machine is still in perfect condition.
Did I got a bad unit ?? I don't use the printer very often, the main things I print are: Air plane boarding pass and e-tickets. For about 2 years I still use the original toner that came with the printer and I still use the first box (ream) of printer paper . And suddenly the printer made couple streak (WHITE) lines on the right side of the paper. I though the new toner will solved the problem, I bought the generic toner on Amazon ($15) same problem. Two Stars great printer had broken hinges
Stopped working after 6 months It stopped working within 6 months. Even though toner was placed in the machine (and I tried multiple ones) an error said there was no toner. I confirmed that the toner worked by trying it on another brother printer I had that accepted the same one, so I know there is something wrong with this machine. Very very annoyed.
One Star It is making all type or errors, not a satisfactory product as it should have been.
Firmware/software interface can go bad. Beware of firmware/software interface. Software can repair itself, but if firmware broken inside the printer, printer is no better than a glorified door-stopper. This interface usually goes bad AFTER the 90-day or whatever return policy and Brother charges too much to replace the part. Hence, it just ends up in the dump, along with the other Chinese-sourced products in your home.
