Suburb multi function printer for the money. My 18 year old HP 6P laser printer was actually still running fine but the old computer that had an older printer port died. So I gave the printer away and researched new laser printers. The 6P was a whopping 600 dpi and this one is 2400, although I've dialed back to 1200 (see starter cartridge below) This is a nice MF printer for the money. Fairly fast printer and good copy/scanner. Watch out! Generic toner cartridges produce poor results Learn from my mistake: DO NOT use less-expensive, non-Brother toner cartridges in this unit! Ever since I replaced my toner cartridge, the printout quality has been horrible-- very dark printout, with white streaks running down the page. I followed the instruction manual and cleaned the drum, shook up the toner, and tried just about everything else. I was so frustrated I was going to buy a different printer--- seriously! low toner . constant obnoxious warnings, screws up scanner operation Printer/copier/scanner works OK when the toner is full. But when the toner gets low the network software gives you annoying chirps and a reminder dialog every 5 minutes or so. That wouldn't be so bad except it seems to be disrupting scanning. Now I am constantly having to cancel scans and turn off/on the machine. I would put in a new toner cartridge but the prints still look OK. What a pain. 5 stars for the machine but docking 4 for this obnoxious annoyance... read more
I haven't had it long, but it does everything ... I haven't had it long, but it does everything it was supposed to do. Replace cartridge message came on much to soon and I had to reset.
After only a few months, machine would not send ... After only a few months, machine would not send faxes. Brother is now doing a swap. Hopefully, the replacement machine will function properly.
Be aware. Nice printer. The problem: unable to read the menu options on the dark mini screen, since it is not illuminated. Have to use a power flash light every time I opt for the enlarge/reduce option. It is a true pain.Programming does not respond.
Piece of Junk...will never buy another Brother copy machine. Copy machine was trouble from day one....now it has stopped altogether after 8 months of very light use. Will never buy another Brother product!
One Star DON'T BUY IT! It didn't even last a year. Now won't feed any paper among other problems.
