The restaurant was crowded on a Sat.night before a Lincoln Center performance. We were immediately shown to our table. There seemed to be a bit of confusion as to who was our waiter--one started taking our drink orders when another came over but that was quickly figured out. Drinks were promptly served and when we said we weren't n a hurry our server didn't rush us. Our appetizer was fried shrimp & calamari--which was just ok but ur main courses were delicious--the trout and branzino--they must have looked so good the folks ... read more
Newer brunch menu is very good. Eggs, pasta, salads all very good. Service was excellent as was the overall experience. Perfect before brunch before the Met.
I eat here about once a month, and never had a bad dish. The signature lasagna is out of this world, and unlike any lasagna I've ever had, seen, or even heard of. The only negative, is that the red wine is not cellared in a temperature controlled fridge/room, and more often than not, comes out warmer than room temp. I frequently have to ask them to chill the red wine, which should be served between 60-65 degrees, but comes out 75+.
Too crowded and tables only two inches apart. Had been there in the past and always found it to be the same. Food was mediocre and overly priced. If it wasn't that I was meeting an elderly relative, I would not have gone there. She was staying at the Empire Hotel and due to the weather, I wanted it to be convenient for her. The ambience was a bit too snobby also.
Rendition of happy birthday too operatic for the small space we were in. Also, did it 3 times! Nice for the kid, though. Food excellent.
Six of us had lunch after a Lincoln Center concert. Asked for a round table and got it. Service was the best. No, the food was! Had different pizzas and salads (Caesar and artichoke/prosciutto) which we shared. One lady had a pesto ravioli which I tasted and will order next time. The staff made it so pleasant for everyone. Will certainly return.
After many visits, this time my entree was terrible. Pappardelle with eggplant - over sauced, too much, micro-waved, heavy.
Friday night with the the cold weather, the rails coming into the city from New Jersey froze. We had reservations for 6:15 P.M. We were stuck on the train for over one hour, which meant we would miss our reservations. I called the restaurant and explained that I didn't know when we would arrive. When we finally did 45 minutes later, our table was ready and we enjoyed a wonderful meal before the ballet.
Besides the vibrant atmosphere and the excellent food, the staff really knows how to cater to the theater going crowd without giving the feeling of rushing you. A great experience
