Carla was great! I am in the Army and was away for most of the transactions. Whenever there was a problem with anything I called Carla and she took care of the issue. Carla made me feel at ease with any problem that we encountered.

My previous mortgage was with BB&T and I only dealt with one person. With Bank South I dealt with so many "loan processors" I didn't know who to contact if I had a question. The whole loan process was agonizing and could have been 10 times simpler. I only received my final figures the night before closing, which left me nervous and not sure what I was committing myself to for 30 years. One week after closing BS has already transferred my loan to another lender??? Would not recommend to my friends!

We used BankSouth with our first home mortgage and worked with Michael and Krista who were great which is why we used BankSouth again for the purchase of our second home. We felt like we were always passed to the next person and after the initial meeting, did not speak with Carla again. Communication could have been better.

A lot of the process is really out of the mortgage broker's control. And she was great in helping to navigate possible potholes. Underwriting however is a process that should be better explained to all customers. It's like a mystery, black hole that only a chosen few may be told about to understand. I think that this is not unique to BankSouth but it's a problem in the industry for borrowers. If there was a better explanation of what 'underwriting' is I think that it could serve borrower and lenders well.

The team was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and generally very responsive. There were a few times I wasn't sure if a request I made was being looked into or not. I felt as though a few requests were not followed up. While I really appreciated being able to email and text team members, as I work often in a secure environment and don't have easy access to my mobile, there were also times I needed a better explanation of what was going on.

My husband's SS # was copied wrong and we were asked to redo things we had done correctly the first time. We didn't get final #s until Fri and closing was Monday. But the rest was fine.
