This sort of inspection was very useful for someone with an older house (50-60 years) undergoing improvements, as much for the recommendations as for the assurance that the electrical system is basically alright. I chose Certified Electrical Technologies from Angie's list because it had high ratings and was in my area. The technician, Bob Malatz, was very professional, pleasant, and helpful. I will definitely call on this company in the future.

The electrician was punctual on both visits to my home. His initial visit was for the safety inspection the company was promoting . He patiently explained what tests he was performing, and wrote out his suggestions for future work. He suggested a surge arrestor be installed in the electrical box for protection, and since he had one in the truck I had him install it that day. I would hire them again for future electrical work. They were on time and did what they said they would do. They showed up when they were supposed to and everything went smoothly and quickly. Their price came in a little bit under their estimate. The outside socket needed a little bit of extra insulation around it, and they did it without making any changes to the price. They were really good, and I was happy with them. I would have them back to the house again. I would also recommend them to others.

Gary was very professional on the phone and via email, discussing details and scheduling the appointment. I took a picture of my circuit box and emailed it to him so they would be prepared for the appointment. Alan arrived on time and quickly performed the work. Then he explained what he did, how the surge protector works, and what to look for to perform a quick check after a lightning storm. I am very pleased with their work and would recommend them.

The company was wonderful from the start. There's always someone to pick up the phone, and they get back to me soon. In addition to doing the work exactly as I requested, on-time, they politely declined some requests that I had (running CAT5 cable), as they felt it was not within their area of expertise. We have had many "certified" home improvement people in the house -- from plumbers and carpenters, to builders and electricians. Certified Electrical's technician clearly cared about this customer and was interested and concerned about our electrical needs (he mentioned several times how important it is to change smoke detector batteries every six months, etc). I was happy with my experience with them. It was an average experience. A lot of electricians never answer my phone calls. It was a small job. The quality of their work was fine.
