They have changed ownership, and everything has been a little messy since then. Other than that it's been okay. I would urge families to wait to move loved ones in until after things have settled down with the change in ownership. And then it's always a good idea to keep in close contact with the management and staff there to make sure that things that need to be addressed get addressed. The tour was lovely and the gal giving us the tour was great. They do have a beautiful courtyard and the residents rooms open up to it. When we were touring though we did not see many residents out at all and no one was utilizing the courtyard. It was just a little more depressing than some other places we looked into.
We chose Morningside of Newport because we were impressed with the staff when we started looking. They are friendly, outgoing, and the manner in which they spoke to the residents was very positive. It is also a smaller facility which we felt would be better for mom and have more personalized care. I would definitely recommend to others looking.
I visited twice before I placed my mother here, each time I was impressed with the staff members, they are very engaged with their residents and knew them all by name. You can tell they really care. I would recommend and already have.

Our loved one was there for respite care and during her stay the community was kept spotless clean. Everyone was extremely friendly even on the first day we got there, everyone from the house keeping to the maintenance team came and welcomed our loved one. Our loved one tends to be a picky eater but overall the meals were excellent. They did have activities going on for those who could and wanted to participate in them. The staff members have been very good to our family so far, and after touring three other communities we liked the size and layout of these apartments the best. Also they seemed to of had everything our loved one was going to need at an affordable and reasonable price.

Communication could be better between the staff and our family. I seemed to get different answers from different staff members and they are not always on the same page. The community is neat and clean and the staff is very friendly. The value is good and I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

This was my second tour in the selection process, and a virtual tour as well. At this point I was realizing that the communities were actually quite similar, and it was going to come down to small little differences that were a matter of preference. The rooms here were similar to the previous place I toured. The biggest difference was I didn’t like Morningside's dining room as much. It just looked plain. That was it.
