Mind you my Mother was in the Dementia care unit. There were several things that were unsatisfactory and needed fixing. They were not included in the events that took place in the main building. The alarm system for the doors was completely unsat. Many times I stood outside, before someone answered. The charge nurse was hardly over in the unit. Your staff of caretakers were over worked and under paid, but managed to take care of my Mothers needs very well. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The 2 years my Mom has been here has been SO frustrating. Director after director come and go. They have trouble keeping an lpn ( nurse) and staff are constantly leaving. Staff don't give report so communication between each shift is non existent . We get frustrated that we were promised all this care ( for an increase price) but the staff isn't aware of what is needed. They cannot possibly keep up with all they NEED to do even once they are informed ( by us) and then good ones leave. This looks like a nice place, and it cou... read more
Part of the experience was on my mom. She went to Chesapeake Place with the attitude that she wasn't going to participate. She only went to the dining hall a few times and wanted her meals brought to her room. She didn't extend herself as far as making friends or participate in any activities. She entered hospice care the last few months she was there and we had issues getting the staff to follow the nurses instructions on feeding and food preparation. Like most of these facilities they were short handed and mom had to wait ... read more
My loved one was previously a resident at Chesapeake Place Senior Living. They tried their best to help make our loved one's transition a smooth one. However, they were understaffed and overworked with a very high turnover and the worst communication I have ever dealt with with any business. They are aware of their challenges and are trying to make things better. However, we didn't have time for them to make the necessary changes. After 3 months, we moved our loved one to another facility.

We are sorry that your experience was not what you had hoped. We read and reflect on all reviews and, when an opportunity for a teachable moment arises, we do so. Thank you for acknowledging that we tried to resolve this but we understand that in some cases that it’s not possible. We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
We are pretty unhappy here. They are understaffed and it's hard to get help. They just raised my loved one's monthly fee [dollar amount removed], starting in [date removed]!! They said it was across the board for all their communities and they added to the cost of the "levels" of care rather than rent. I suppose they raised it to pay for all the pipes they had burst around Christmas time...which flooded my loved one's room, in the first few weeks after moving in. My loved one has had money stolen from their room a couple of ... read more

It's just shy of six months since this review was written. A ruptured pipe caused unforeseen damage in the community at about the time the rates were raised. We worked individually with residents and their families with regard to the rent increase and currently do not have any lingering issues. We are very excited about the future of this building with a new Executive Director and a new Resident Services Director. Together they oversee the daily operations of the community and the ongoing care of our residents. Both are capa... read more
If your loved one is mostly independent this is a good community for your loved one. If there is a lot of intensive care that is needed then this would not be the place for your loved one. When the staff are present it is okay but they have a very bad staffing issue at the time that is making things difficult. The more care that is needed the less I would be to recommend this community.

The management is not concerned about the loving, caring, sensitivity toward the tenants, as evidenced by the way the tenants are treated by the staff. They treat them very poorly. They talk down to my loved one. They won't respond to critical needs. And they force her to stay in bed more hours of the day and put her to bed very early so they don't have to fool with her. I feel that they're trying to keep things clean, but I think at the end of the day it's just a paycheck for those people, that it's not something they feel ... read more

We removed my mom due to lack of care, medicine mismanagement, after pointing out lack of care the staff would not speak to us. They continue to order medicine from their pharmacy without using what we provide . Her room was constantly hot with no air movement and caused foul smells . Evening staff is so short they are unable to give care to all of the residents in the building. Residents wander into other rooms ,when I questioned staff about this, they said they know and they cant stop her. Staff is not required to make rou... read more
