Understand how these firms are compensated so if they don’t think there’s a lot of back pay involved, they’re not likely to accept your case. You will not consult with an attorney, they will have an intake clerk take notes and the firm (not sure if attorney is in initial review process) will apply their business process to your case. Run like hell !!!!!!! I hired Robert Chisholm to represent me on my Military Disability Claim. I had everything I needed to get 100% (VA Doctor letters, etc.), but figured it would be easier using a lawyer. Mr. Chisholm told me the only cost would be 25% of the retroactive pay, when he won the claim & no charge if he he lost. In less than a month he called me saying that he wanted to discuss my claim. If they were so caring and wanting to help with veteran's disability appeal, why did they refuse to take my case. Not profitable? I have back issues, left hand problems, allergies, and sinusitis problems-all from military deployment. However, just in two days after reviewing my case this lawyer group would not take my case. So much for veteran's advocacy or lack of profit for getting me only 20% needed.
