Didn't like host very much but overall nice place and nice ambiance.
The restaurant was pleasantly filled with patrons- not to crowded but not empty. The hostesses were professional and in great spirits making us feel very welcome. Overall, the food and service was great and I would definitely go back again. The only small small snag that was annoying was that after being seated, we waited at least 15 mins before a server came to offer us water. I had to call the hostess to ask her to send someone over. I really enjoyed Chocolat. My husband and I were treated to an outstanding meal and great atmosphere.
The rap on Chocolat is that it's hopping, great menu, friendly staff ... with middling service. That's been my experience both times I've been there. But I will go back. The service isn't terrible, just neglectful and slow. Know that going in and you won't be frustrated by the experience. The tables are a bit too close -- but this is Manhattan, after all. For a quality restaurant like Chocolat, the pickins in Harlem are pretty slim, so I am grateful for the place and recommend it.
Food was good little pricey for the area.
My husband and I went to Chocolat for an early Valentine's Day dinner. Despite having a reservation we were seated at a wobbly table. TV's were on the entire time distracting us from holding any meaningful conversation. Also, there was no special Valentine Day menu, just the ordinary dinner menu. I made a reservation for 8 people to celebrate a birthday on June 25, 2026. We arrived before our 5pm reservation time and was seated shortly thereafter. The restaurant was practically empty with 2 people at the bar and some people at a table. The server Malick was very slow with coming to our table to take the orders for both the appetizers and entrees.
