I have to wait 3 months for a physical on my child. Wow! Dr. Shah is great! The practice is just getting too busy for my taste. I called a few weeks ago because my child was sick and I was told if I came in today I would have to pay a walk in fee in addition to the regular office visit. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. A cancellation fee yes, but an extra fee to be seen the same day.
Doctors are great but when you drive from Tehachapi (an hour away) and make sure your on time just to wait 45 minutes with two toddlers in the waiting room it's frustrating. At least give an update if your going to have people with kids wait that long.
Had good experiences with the providers for the last 6 years, but was recently told we were not allowed to be seen anymore because my child fell behind on the vaccine schedule (for context, my older child is fully up to date and my younger child is only 2 behind schedule.) We were never told that being dropped was a possibility and the office manager, Amy, admitted that the post office never delivered the letter informing us - which she implied was my fault. I absolutely love Dr.Amin and she is the only reason I continue taking my kids here. The front office staff makes it unbearable to make appointments, change appointments, fill paperwork out, decipher billing mistakes, you name it. The woman who answers the phone is the absolute worst person to deal with. She is rude and acts completely put out by anyone asking her to do her job and will look for any excuse to charge a fee. Good doctors but horrible front office (office manager was very disrespectful). After taking our 1st son here for two years, we will be leaving.
Upon answering my phone call to the office, I was placed on a 20 minute hold. It was 9am on a Wednesday, so I expect they are going to be busy, but 20 minutes is too damn long. When the receptionist returned to my line, she didn't acknowledge the wait, and instead seemed more annoyed than anything. I asked her if the office was accepting new patients and she asked me for the age of my child. I told her I had two children and told her their ages. My wife took our 7 year old to SW Pediatrics today. She was seen by Dr. Santiago. Dr. Santiago was rude, abrasive and not pleasant to visit. She nudged our daughter a bit harder than was needed, to the point that it concerned my wife. This is not the first time my wife has had a bad experience with Dr. Santiago. I would NOT recommend her for your child. We love the rest of the doctors at SW Pediatrics. But, Dr. Santiago, it seems, could use a dose (or class) on how to treat people. I called to get information about speech therapy. I spoke to Patty and she asked me 3 questions, who is his doctor, is this a new patient and type of insurance. As soon as I said HMO she said sorry we can't help you and hung up on me as I was about to ask a question. Don't expect any empathy calling here.
Dr. Santiago is fantastic no reflection on her or her work as a doc. My experience the past 7 months has been hit and miss with the front desk staff. Stephanie and Patty they have been great at times and have had a poor attitude others. The main reason in us finding another pediatrician is the poor communication skills we have received from the staff. I have used the three strikes with them.
