David was thorough and detailed. He was willing to take as much time as needed to demystify the problem we've been having with ice dams. Unfortunately for us, his solution, while comprehensive, is going to cost more than we can afford. However, it was worth the money to have him come out and to receive his report. Based on my meeting with David, I'm confident his company does good work. Thoroughly inspected attic and provided a detailed report on what his company can do for ice dams.

The evaluation visit was excellent; David P. was extremely knowledgeable. The work was scheduled and performed on time. Workers were very tidy. The carpenter who did some finishing work (frame of new window) did a great job matching the framework of the remaining window. I would use them again and recommend them to others. This was an interesting project because her window was built touching another roof slope and the rain and snow continually rotted the wood around her window. Its too bad that this person gave us such a poor score. I looked in our data base and this name or address is nowhere to be found. If it was strictly because of the price, I feel bad for them. Dolphin Insulation came to my home to do a "Home Energy Diagnosis." When I scheduled the visit, they explained that there would be a fee of $190, unlike the free MassSave energy audits, because they were more thorough than the free audits. The Dolphin representative spent a couple of hours walking around the house and taking measurements, but did not collect any information on my energy use or conduct any tests (e.g., testing for air leaks or air turnover). First is that if you buy Natural gas from National Grid or Eversource, you pay $70 a year added into your bill for energy conservation. If you buy electricity from the same companies , you pay $60 a year for energy efficiency. This is Forever! They send some of this money to MassSave who hires contractors to do Home Audits. Dolphin was one of the only insulation companies I talked with that was willing to come out and look at our attic situation and offer solutions. The insulation expert they sent out to do the research and price out the job was the most knowledgable insulation person I've ever dealt with. They were very informative. Working with Mass Energy for the energy audit was not that easy. However, Dolphin waas perfect. I worked w/ Mass Energy and they insulated the attic and put insulation in a couple of walls.

They did a great job, with some caveats. They were nice, clean & thorough. There are three items that keep me from given them a solid "A" grade. 1) The sales/project engineer cut a small hole in the ceiling (in a closet) to determine whether the old part of the roofhad insulation, which was fine. He found none so we agreed I'd be charged $50 a bag for insulation removal if some was found. As it happened, the entire old part of of the roof was insulated and 12 bags were removed, which was $600. So, I think they should certain... read more
