Doorstead customer service is terrible. They rented me a home infested with COCKROACHES and TERMITES and have failed to do anything about it over the 5 months we have lived here. Every time I attempt to contact them about an issue, they just blame it on another "team" at Doorstead or the "owner" of the home, but fail to address it.
We have made an appointment to view a home and waited over 30 minutes.. no response to calls or texts. Very unprofessional… we drove over 30 minutes to get here and I took time off of work to view the home. It saddens me how people dont respect other’s times.
I would have to say the complaint I have is that I had reached out several times and received no response.
I do not recommend using Avery Carter/Doorstead as they are not communicative to their applicants. They claimed they ran their applicants in order. I was not the first applicant, but I did make an offer to pay an advance on rent so they ran my credit. Then, after not hearing back from them within 48 hours, they said they're going with the first applicant. Why run my credit if I wasn't considered seriously enough? FACT: Doorstead gives out starbuck giftcards if you write good reviews with them. As landlords, we chosed doorstead's guaranteed plan in hope of a "free mind", however it's very stressful and disappointing all the way along. I'm not happy with the experience that Doorstead helps find a tenant. 1. The price that they set to rent out is $300 less than market value or as they advertised. They keep giving me weird excuses to not show me the house. First I didn't make enough, when I showed I made WELL over their income limit, all of the sudden the house they listed 3 days ago was unavailable due to being construction. Just really sketchy.
Nobody came to appointment scheduled and nobody picked up the phone once I tried to reach them multiple time. Waste of time and it cost me 2 hours of drive to the destination and back.
I highly suggest to all looking for a unit to rent in the Bay Area do not use doorstead. certain units in areas they would double the security deposit. Poor families like me and my daughter in the midst of a pandemic are the ones who suffer from this.
