warning!!!!worst animal hospital ever in the 805!!!!! this facility allows pets to have intercourse before getting fixed and is so unorganized they called me to tell me i'll be getting charged for a no show while i was already in the room with the vet. worst staff on the planet out of all animal care facilities. never! ever! ever go here if you want your animals in safe care. Didn't even offer a reimbursement!!!! Worst decision I ever made when it comes to vets!

Business response:

East Ventura has uncomfortable waiting area and is regularly dirty, as are the examining rooms. They also seem to be overly committed to selling their insurance policy which is good only for well care visits. They don't hesitate to remind you when expired. I just was not happy with their care AFTER I told them I was no longer interested in buying their policy. one day I was very concerned about mouth breathing by my kitten. They told me it would be two days before I could get appointment. (I had just lost my 20 year o... read more

Veterinarian talked us into getting pet insurance. Then she recommended to us that our pet needed his teeth cleaned and a few removed. When we went to have the procedure done, she said that we owed another $481.00 because our insurance didn't cover tooth extraction. This is bullshit!!! the Vet should have known what the insurance covered before talking us into the plan. I would never ever recommend this place to any one. The Vets commit fraud and don't care. They are a bunch of crooks. They should be politicians.

After 3 days of a sick dog, I took my pooch to East Ventura Veterinarian Hospital for an evaluation. Following a quick exam and a single x-ray, Dr. Martinez told me my dog had an intestinal obstruction. He was so confident of his diagnosis; he wanted to do emergency surgery that afternoon. The surgery involved slicing my dog's belly open from end to end and pulling her intestines out to locate the obstruction. The price tag: $4,000-$7,000. Despite Dr. Martinez' unwavering confidence, I took a copy of the x-ray and my dog t... read more

Business response:

Mr. V., Thank you for your response. We are so happy to hear that your dog did not need surgery, and that your dog is doing well. After reviewing your chart, I saw Dr. Martinez did recommend an abdominal ultrasound for a more definitive diagnosis. Dr. Martinez did take radiographs and did see evidence of what appeared to be a possible obstruction. Radiographs can be not as definitive as we would like in some cases. Given the history of the pet that you verbally gave us( not being able to hold food down and vomiting for 3... read more

I brought in my sick chinchilla to be examined by a veterinarian after noticing an irregular amount of saliva. She was perscribed medicine which was administered as instructed . Over the course of 48 hours she declined in Health immensely to the point where she ceased to eat or drink any water or fluids. I called and expressed my concern to the hospital who informed me to use "critical care" and offered no further help when I asked. Again as instructed I administered the food and antibiotics as instructed and saw her grow we... read more

I never leave negative reviews but had the worst experience ever with this vet's office staff and felt compelled to leave a review. Completely unprofessional. I will never go there again.

For close to twenty years I have been taking my pets to East Ventura Animal Hospital, I went there because the were honest, caring and fair priced. I started noticing changes over the last two years. There big thing now is to sell teeth clearing for your pet. They tried to get me to have my 1 1/2 year old dogs teeth cleaned, they didn't need it then nor do they need it now. In fact when the women checking me out that day was telling that the doctor advised the cleaning I could tell she did not want to try to sell me on i... read more

Business response:

Hi Dan, thank you for your feedback. Our main goal is to offer exceptional veterinary care for our customers so we apologize that you were not pleased hearing about the dental procedures. As veterinary medicine progresses, dental cleanings and oral health have been shown to be a key piece of preventative care in order to avoid dental disease and other life threatening side effects of poor oral hygiene. We do our best to make our clients aware of this risk and how important these preventative procedures are, but we never inte... read more

9 years going there with my pets. They have new or newly licensed people come work there and I had misfortune to get a guy named Martinez. Seemed ok at first but then he said ALARMING things about my pets health ( among some of the frightening statements he made in 1st two minutes were my pet was in Kidney Failure ) that I needed to have a multitude of very costly tests right away! Frightened I agreed to one or two of those test. Everything came back NORMAL. For the additional testing I said I would think about it an... read more

I stick to my previous statements in my initial review posted on 02/26/2014. Newer (within the last 3 weeks) reviews of Dr. Fowell appear to be colleagues or friends of Fowell's as they have no current yelp credibility.
