I have been going to Edinburgh Animal Hospital since we moved to VA in the year 2019. I had one complaint since then and loved the staff. The routine check ups and everything always went smoothly with the one complaint that their appointment times are never on time. You will have an appointment time of four and maybe four thirty you will be seen. Other than that, never had a complaint. Until this year. My dog tore ligaments in his leg. I've been using Dr Campbell as my Vet for 18 years. 18 years. Started with him on General Boothe Blvd in Virginia Beach. Multiple dogs and cats. Westies (3), Cairn/Lhasa rescue, Schnoodle Rescue, Australian Terrier mix Rescue, and 3 cat rescues. Sent my kids with their pets to him. Sent my friends to him. My 10 year old Schnoodle is shaking, and I can't calm him. Call Dr Campbell and the front desk says no, you can't talk to a vet. I was referred here for my dog. Woke up this morning found blood in his from his rectum and was breathing rapidly. The Dr called me and said he would need to run test and if he come home he would've the same because of his condition and age. Of course I was upset. Told him I would d call back. I have taken my dogs to this vet for several years. My 10 1/2 year old golden began to not feel well on Sunday. She would not eat Sunday night and was not interested in going outside or doing anything else. Monday she was almost back to normal. Eating and going outside. Last night she threw up. Overnight she had diarrhea. This morning she threw up again but this looked to be like hair and some other things. I called the vet at 8am to see if we can get her in. My family were patrons of Edinburgh for two good years until yesterday. Previously we'd been very satisfied with the care our two dogs had been given. However, yesterday when my granddaughter called early about her dog who had become suddenly ill, she got a very unsatisfactory response. This was Wednesday and she was told there were no openings until Friday. Not wanting to wait, she took "her baby" to a different vet the same day. Thank goodness she did! Edinburgh Hospital is very overpriced​ once they get you in the prices go up. It was over $150 for a simple ear infection. Vet examined​ the infected ear first and then with the same cover on the otoscope​ checked the uninfected ear. Total wrong. Never went back.

I had a horrific experience at Edinburgh Animal Hospital with my five pound dog who was suffering from diarrhea. The staff was not able to obtain a fecal sample to determine if the diarrhea was due to bacterial overgrowth. Despite that, Dr. Mapes prescribed an antibiotic, which I thought was a very bad idea because I believe the diarrhea was a side effect of her other medications, not a bacterial overgrowth. 11-18-2016 Took my dog here told you his symptoms and you said my dog is constipated.12-13-2016 took him to a different hospital with the same symptoms Now he is getting treated for acute kidney failure ,Can you say missed diagnosis..He died 19 Dec 2016....no stars

Nice staff. However I made an appointment for one thing and confirmed a price. When my husband took our dogs in the receptionist also included the well check that was not needed. She made it seem like they were doing it and it was included instead of telling my husband it was an extra charge. She did not ask a yes or no question she just said we are doing a well check and rabies shot. My husband went into the appointment and afterwards when he went to pay he realized our bill was DOUBLE the amount it was suppose to be. The a... read more
