We have a loved family member who was at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital for a stroke and fractured back. This involved PT, OT and Speech Therapy. She was there for 10 days, and we had a family meeting with the therapists and case manager last Friday. The family had informed the staff that her apartment was not ready for her return, but we were getting this apt ready so she could go back with services. the care my mother received was hit or miss depending on what nurse was on duty. some of the aids were less than kind and even mean. there a few good ones who cared but most were just drug dispenser. I never saw or spoke to a doctor. my mother left the Ludlow facility with more problems than she came with like a terrible rash and a mighty fine drug habit. their solution is to drug people if they are difficult. the case worker was aloof, very little help and was just going thru the motions. most of the administrative staff le... read more

Do not choose this rehab for anyone with brain trauma or surgery. This is not the place for them. I believe they lack the knowledge to support neurological rehab.

My 90-year old father was here for two weeks recovering from a fractured pelvis and while he was making progress slowly, he was certainly not ready to be discharged when they decided to. I begged and pleaded with three doctors, one psychiatrist, his case manager, three therapists and several nurses to keep him longer to no avail. I am a 77 year old man who was recovering from hip replacement surgery at the Encompass Rehabilitation Center in Woburn Mass. This center is terrible for someone with a mild orthopedic injury. Their website is misleading and services are poor. Some specifics: 1 - Not mentioned on the website, you are expected to remain in your bed 21 hours per day. This requirement is only acceptable if the patient is bedridden. Also not mentioned, the beds are alarmed, If you get up an alarm goes off and various staff members come in to be... read more

My Mom entered Encompass after the hospital diagnosed her with a neurological issue. After being a patient at Encompass for a week and a half, her leg, ankle and foot swelled up dramatically. As it turned out, after a number of phone calls to the incompetent "doctor", the nurses at Encompass completely mishandled her insulin. They either gave her too much insulin or too little insulin. The ratings are too high for a place that doesn't take your health into consideration. My daughter just needed rehab to come back home but then her health was becoming a concern. Her health concerns and mine was brought up to every doctor, nurse or PA we were able to speak to but nothing was being done, therefore, was taken by ambulance back to the hospital with difficult breathing. I was a patient there for 2 weeks. Had terrible earache suffered for 10 hours. I was told over and over from 3 a.m. doctor was comng Doctor did not show up until 10am. She did nothing as pain in ear had started to subside. No doctor at the facility after 5 or 6pm. I arrived at the facility and had to stay in stretcher for over an hour before room was ready.
