Aloof Staff Hotel runs on a bare-bones staff such that you have to dial a phone from the lobby to get someone to help you - even at prime check-in time around 4:00. Hotel is mostly for Mayo Clinic patients and relatives so it feels like a hospital. There is no pool, game room, exercise room which at least keeps the kids out. Quiet, clean facility.
The "handicapped" bathroom was very un-handicapped. There was a bathtub instead of a walk-in shower. The sink had no vanity and no place to put even a tube of toothpaste let alone a hairdryer or shaver. The outlet was about 5 feet from the sink . The bed was very uncomfortable and very hard. The television was no more than 17 in. I have never been in a hotel/motel with such a small tv. The air conditioner was very loud. Because there were so few rooms available except across from the smoking rooms and we had reserved a room ... read more
Rochester stay The price was fair, but all normal services were extra, not the norm today. The first room was on the smoking floor, which suprised me since I thought it was a non smoking hotel? I had requested a non smoking room out of habit, but was put on a smoking floor even though the hotel was not even 40% full. The bed was bad!
Never stay here again There was all sorts of hair in the shower. TV didn't work. Elevator was right next door. Stafff haul clean linens up during the night. Could here them very well. Carpet was very dirty/stained. The box spring on the bed was so dirty, I didn't want to touch it.
No thank you! For a hotel that is usually a pretty good chain, we were not impressed and actually disappointed with many things. First of all, there were a lot of stains around the room, including "fresh" stains on my blanket....had to ask for a new clean one. Yuck. We didn't have any soap, shampoo, etc apon arrival. We were told to go down to the front desk both times when we asked for the hair dryer and the clean blanket, they were not brought to our room. Last but not least, the room smelled horribly like cooked bacon any... read more
Not very Impressed The previous guest left hairs all over the bed and pillows. Let's just say housekeeping did not do a good job at changing the linens. They just seemed to have straight things around the room and add new towels in the bathroom. Please change the linens or bedding for sanitation reason, when any guest check out and before the new guest arrives or check in.
Smokey Inn Third floor allowed smoking in some rooms. Initially placed on that floor and refused room. Rest of hotel smelled like smoke, especially elevator. If it had been possible we would have left. No refund. Never thinking in this day, that smoking would ever be a problem in a public place.
Extended Stay - too many smoking rooms It was convenient and affordable, but apparently most of the smokers in rochester thought so too. The hotel had serveral rooms available but they were all smoking. I see why, unless you smoke, there is no other reason to want one of those rooms. The beds were also really really hard in those rooms. Not the worst I have been in, but i dont think that i will be coming back to this one.
