I needed to be away from home for an extended period and needed lodging in a convenient location that offered a kitchen, however modest. The Extended Stay America - San Rafael met those needs. My visit was probably better because I had stayed there briefly before and knew about its quirks: you have to ask that the front desk supply kitchen equipment, a set of knives isn't part of the equipment, and the refrigerator in the unit is turned off when a guest first arrives and nobody thinks to mention that. A very functional home away from home at a very favorable price. The location is close to everything, although getting on 101 S is a real pain. But that's my only criticism of this property. As others have mentioned, you do have to request kitchen equipment, and you do have to turn the refrigerator on. It would be nice if this was offered at check-in. But, if you understand the system, it functions perfectly well.
