Location: good; everything else: bad This hotel needs a full gut/rehab. Everything was dirty, worn, outdated, moldy, etc. The bed and chair were comfortable, though. TV was obviously newer, but cable package is only about 20 channels. Appliances weren't great. Close to one fast-food and one quick service restaurant and a shopping center, close to UNC and Duke, close to I-40 and I-85, so location and neighborhood get good marks.
Smoke odor in non-smoking room Room smell horrible! Ask twice to be moved! Incredible that in the 21st century there is still smoking rooms!
Only once The pictures looked better than the actual room. Quiet and convenient location, but I don't think I would stay again.
Police Invasion Awful...the first room they put my employees in had a water leak...they then put them up in a different room but failed to note this in their records at the front desk...thus renting out the room to a duplicate occupant. When that occupant entered the room at 1:45 am they went to the front desk who called police and 6 police cars and 2 police dogs charged the room totally freaking out my employee. I will never use an Extended Stay Hotel again.
Hotel In Durham Our stay was full of problems and inability of the staff to correct problems. When we entered our room the toilet was dismantled- Repair was slow and did not fix the problem. I finally repaired it to working order. Hot water was non existent or was lacking and sometimes took 10 miniutes of running water until it warmed up to luke warm. Staff was appologetic but never fixed the problem in the 4 days we were there. We would have to think twice before we stay at an Extended Stay America again.
Extended Stay in Durham, NC My hotel at Extended Stay in Durham, NC was my worst experience ever. I reserved a non smoking double queen size room. after arriving at the hotel late night, I was told that there we no double full or queen rooms at the hotel. the only double rooms were twin beds. I ended up getting a room with a full size bed in which 2 people slept in the bed and I tried to sleep on a chair (a recliner). it was awful. The room smelled like smoke. The bathroom door would not close.
DURHAM NC, JUNE 2011 This non-smoking room smelled of smoke. The stove and small appliances were well used but not cleaned they showed burned food and crumbs. The bathroom had obvious mold/mildew in the areas that would be touched by the guest. I wasn't pleased at all. The guests upstairs had children running around and bouncing on the furniture ntl 3 am. Thank god I only stayed one night. I had to call the desk twice to complain about the kids and the noise. For this hotel to be in such an upscale part of town this hotel it ... read more
