I ordered our storage units online. When we showed up to sign the paperwork, we received very friendly service. We were shown the units to make sure they would accommodate our needs. We were given detailed information about the facility, to ensure the hours and rules fit our needs. Robert and Norman are very friendly, and happy to help out with whatever your needs are. I definitely recommend Extra Space Storage!

If proximity is your main issue this is a decent place for those in the east long beach area. I've accumulated some stuff after a few moves and now after downsizing to smaller accomodations had to find a storage place. This place was closeby so I could visit it without much hassle. They have a number of different size sheds and if you choose an upstairs shed there is a freight elevator to use. When I first moved in to my 5x8 the rent was under $100. I have only been here for 12 months and already my rental fee has increased over 100%. I just got a notice that my November rent will be $223/mo outrageous. I complained to the agent at the front when my rent went up $60 months ago and he said yea that is more that he could even pay but there is no rent control on storage. So I am being hustled. They will increase almost 100% without proper notice when the law clearly states : Under California Civil Code Section 1947.12, tenants must be given 30 days notice for rent increases of less than 10% and 60 days notice if the increase exceeds this amount. If the proposed increase exceeds 10%, a longer notice period of 60 days applies under the same legislation. When you try to call it will loop you and not even allow you to contact a real human. Don't use them!! We were good tenants who always paid on time but they increased the bill 3 times within a year, without any warning, to a 40% overall increase. They also don't respond when questioned about it.

OMG they raised my rent again! They continue to raise the rent 2-3 times a year, yet there seems to be no appreciable reason. It's storage. There is not much maintenance on their part, they have even taken away the restrooms and trash! They are taking advantage of people desperate to hold onto meaningful items. If it wasn't for the memories, it would be cheaper to throw it all away and buy new items yearly as needed.

I reserved a unit online. Robert called me and was very nice on the phone and said that I needed to come down and see the unit before the move-in date. I arrived at the facility at 5:45 (I work until 5:00). I was told that they were closing at 6:00 and that there was not enough time to see the unit. I said we have 15 minutes before you close.
