I've been a customer for 1 year here, literally 1 day late in paying rent this month, every other month paid in time. Paid including $5 late fee no big deal. Came in to put more things in shed and found it double locked like I was abandoning unit? Have been waiting for 20 min now because no one is in the office. Not a great way to treat a long time customer.
Not for the long term. In about 2 years they raised my rate on a 10x20 from just under $100 to nearly $150 per month with no end in sight. My protests fell on deaf ears. I moved into a local 10x20 that has everything Extra Space has (Cameras, access, on-site 24-hr security, etc.). I'm paying under $100 -- and they haven't had a rate increase in over 4 years. I'll save $600 per year minimum. I was in my last storage unit for 10 years. Make some calls and ask about rate increases. Keep the money in YOUR wallet.
the first month was supposed to be "half off" ended up paying more the first month than I will be paying for subsequent months. all those "fees" for bs really turned me off, and i will not be staying long. come prepared to pay more than you expect for that "half month off" that will draw you in.
I'm really getting tired of the rate hike and no notice. Twice now this has happened to me. They said they mailed out a postcard but I never recieved anything. The facility is clean but I am now looking to move my stuff because I'm tired of now paying more then what my original contract stated and for ne reason.

Melissa, I understand your frustration. However, we try hard to make it clear to our customers that their original monthly rate is not guaranteed for the life of their rental with us. Occasionally, we need to increase rates to keep up with the rising costs associated with providing our services.
The physical establishment is clean, comfortable in temperature and presentable in appearance. Access is simple enough. Then there's the staff. When I rented the unit (June 2012) I had a great experience with the young man who showed me around and filled out my contract with me. The kid gave great "face", as it were. And then. I went to rent storage space at this company (applies to all locations)and was VERY close to renting from them( I gave them my drivers' license and a US Passport for ID).The rental agent told me that they require fingerprints as well as a palmprint according to corporate rental policy. UNTIL they wanted my FINGERPRINTS and PALMPRINT in order to rent a space I was ok with everything.
