When they work they work well, when they don't work it's awful. Currently I cannot withdraw, check or purchase anything with my account at the ATM, I can't even check my online account via phone to see what's wrong. It's a good bank but they need to revamp this policy of customer service not being open past 12 or so because this is getting ridiculous.
I've been banking there for 25+ years, I truly wish that they'd be more proactive in alerting their customer's to issues with their accounts. I am thinking of moving my banking to a different bank.
I unfortunately have to deal with them for work. I would not use them for a personal account. Even if last bank in world. No other bank that I have been to charges a higher fee or asks for a credit card number to cash a non acct payroll check drawn against the bank. No longer a fan of Dicky,Gamma or Boris.
Shout out to FAB's fraud department!!! My husband used an off-site ATM(at an approved 7-11 in Lake in the HIlls) and his card was hacked. The thieves attempted to use the number at an ATM out of Aurora. When the theif attempted a balance check for the large amount it was immediately flagged by FAB and denied. Thank goodness!! I know of others in my neighborhood who were hacked at the same ATM on the same day and each had $1,000 withdrawn from their accounts. So thankful that FAB's fraud department is so thorough!!
Today I needed to close a small savings account for a family emergency. They took $25 of my money because it had not been open for six months! I asked for a waiver under the circumstances and Lourdes declined to waive the fee. Absolutely reprehensible. By the end of the day I will tell 50 people about this.
I too have been a customer of First American Bank for over 20 years. But the frustration in not being able to use my debit card because of the chip problem has me now in a mode to change banks. I really hate to do this but I cannot live in a world of uncertainty about accessing the money I earn. Never had a problem with the card at any establishment until the chip. I've had three cards and the chip is faulty in all 3. I'm not hearing the problem for the other larger banks.
I've been a long time customer...I loved this bank since the beginning...great service-at least at the local level. However, the last several months have been challenged. I am sick and tired of my wife's debit chip card getting declined. Jewel, Target, kohls, DSW, pandora, auntie Ann's, stride right, the list goes on. When I call I'm told it's a MasterCard or retailer issue. And my chip card works at most of those places. Nobody is owning up to this huge problem. Archaic technology, sub par service. I have had more issues with just their credit and debit cards than I have with all my other credit cards combined. There is no problem resolution from this bank and more times than I can count I've suffered the indignity of having their cards declined while there was thousands sitting in the account. Monday I will be closing my account. I'd do it today but it's 1950 in First American bank and their only open until noon.
