My auto pay hadn't worked long enough for us to rack up like FOUR billing cycles worth of payments owed, so I immediately went online and paid us up to owe a balance of $0.00, by then we already had a notice of termination and threats of late fees. This review is for the Summer of 2015 I notified a representative over phone that I would like to cancel my electricty service contract because I would be moving residences to an area where they did not provide electricity service. After leaving the residence I received a bill for almost twice the cost of my monthly electrical service prior to this date despite the residence having no occupants, no electronics turned on, and the ac off. I canceled after receiving excessively high bills. After my initial term ended, my rate increased to something still manageable, like $0.10/kw-h. Suddenly, my rate jumped up to $0.15/kw-h in a cold month and increased my electric bill by 50% (because I used more electric in the same month, my bill went from ~$140 to ~$245 in one month). When I switched providers, they charged me $0.19/kw-h for the 10 days on that last cycle. I'm amazed this kind of predatory billing is legal. I went on the ***** ** ****** website back in May and Gexa had Average Price per kWh that sounded too good to be true. I should have known better. I do not know how they can present the averages they did, because that is no where near the average I pay on my monthly bill. I have never been more disgusted with a company. I have been a gexa customer for several years. I never had any complaints and they have been my provider at several addresses. They were always good to me... until i decided to switch my service to a different provider. Gexa's contract rates were getting higher and they were imposing fees that a lot of other providers are not. We did not receive information that our contract was expiring with Gexa and noticed a major difference between our previous bill and our current one. My husband, whose name is on the account, tried to email them from their website to ask when our contract ended and to possibly renew to one similar if possible. misleading (even deceptive) pricing information posted on ***** ** ****** website. Need to carefully read all detail to understand the exact pricing detail as they game with the required disclosure requirement: you total bill for 999 kw/month would be about $40 higher than $1,000 kw/month
