Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

2 night stay in Edgarstown great service. attentive staff. comfortable room. great location
Great location,Housekeeping disappointment Very disappointed with housekeeping as my room for two consecutive days didn't get cleaned. The first day I did get service after phoning the desk but the second day they were so shorthanded they didn't even have anyone to service the room. I have stayed at this hotel before, however I was extremely disappointed and made my feelings known to the front desk. howeverI got a lot of sorry but there was no adjustment made to my bill to compensate.
Great hotel in great location. Pros: Walking distance to restaurants. Quiet location. Excellent and reasonably priced breakfast. Perfect three days away even in rainy weather. Appreciated concierge advice on what to do/not do, i.e., making most of our time.
Short trip Wonderful experience Enjoyed one night stay Nice staff
great location---wonderful people- Pros: see above Cons: we were happy with it just as it is Location: see above definitely go back----wonderful restaurants on island----off season highly recommended---SEPT weather was fantastic
the location of the room was lovely, we could walk into the pool and had our own patio area but the room smelt funny due to a wet carpet caused by the air conditioning unit we think. We felt a little disappointed given the cost of the room and the response from the front desk. We would return to the hotel as its location was beautiful but feel staff could have responded better
Management Change Needed This hotel is in an amazing location and common facilities were excellent. Of 3 meals eaten at hotel 2 were very good. Breakfast was very mediocre. Ordered a la carte vs buffet. Scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and home fries all were buffet quality cold. The room (945) was on 3rd floor and no elevator. Told us it was because it was historic building yet main building (the original hotel) had an elevator. At 70 I don't like lugging up 3 floors. Room very nicely decorated but mechanics of room were disast... read more
Great views! We stayed in a suite on the second floor and loved the view of the light house.
