Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

2nd time and will surely return. Pros: Front Porch and dining room views Front desk stuff is top notch. It is the only place to stay if you want the total Edgartown experience. Views, location, facilities, friendly guests are all included!
Lighthouse view in a country inn setting Pros: The view of the harbor is lovely and the neighborhood is quiet, yet still a short walk to the center of town. The food was very good in the bar. The staff were wonderful and upgraded our room to one overlooking the lighthouse when we first arrived. My husband was sick and every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to cater to making him comfortable. I've always wanted to stay at the Harbor View and was not disappointed.
Enjoyed very much Went for the Christmas Celebration weekend and had a great time! Old time Christmas fun, parade and shopping. Loved location of hotel, beautiful view and short walk to town and to lighthouse. Can't beat the nightly dinner specials at Henrys, delicious and cost friendly. All requests were quickly met by hotel staff. Hope to return, soon.
Location ideal, but disappointed with stay The location is very scenic and within walking distance of restaurants. I was disappointed as the service was less than I expected. The night we got there it took us more than 30 mind to get checked in. In addition once we got to the room there was a leak in the bathroom that I did not notice until I stepped on the rug which was soaking wet. I called the front desk and maintenance came quickly. They were able to figure out the problem and replaced the rug within 30 mins. I would hav... read more
View of Lighthouse and friendly staff The staff upgraded our room because they were cleaning the vents in our initial room. This was most wonderful for us. A view of the water and lighthouse. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the very tasty tacos for Taco Tuesday in their restaurant.
Great off-season stay! Staff was exceptional!
Historic hotel with convenient location The main building is a beautiful historic hotel with great views from the front porch. The big negative was that we were placed on the third floor of a secondary detached building that did not have an elevator. The hotel was within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in Edgartown. A big plus was the historic lighthouse and beach that was accessible from a path right in front of the hotel. We stayed off season so we got a great rate but were somewhat disappointed that we did ... read more
