Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

Great hotel in a great location. Staff is friendly and helpful. Suite was ultra comfortable and clean.
Disappointing room near pool Pros: The porch and lobby are lovely. Our room near the pool felt like it was in a basement. It was dark, had ceilings so low I could Touch them with the palm of my hand (I am 5'7) and the most cramped bathroom I have ever been in at a hotel.
M.V. vacation It was on one of the main streets but not in the hustle and bustle of 'downtown' . Food was excellent but expensive for the amount you received. The grounds were well kept, pool area was great. I would definitely recommend it.
great location Pros: location, wrap around porch with great views Cons: stain carpets.....at this price it should be spot less quiet location in cottage. Staff - as good as it gets.
Amazing hotel! There is a reason why celebrities have stayed here. From the moment I arrived to the time departed, this hotel impressed with its beauty and wonderful staff. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend it. Edgartown is also the city you want to stay in if you want to get the true cozy Martha's Vineyard experience. Heads up, summer season isn't official in Martha's Vineyard until June 21st. Go anytime before then to lock in great rates and beat the crowds. Mid-June is plenty warm enough.
great location overall comfort was that the room and furnishings were a bit damp. The air conditioner thermostat was hidden in a closet and therefore our first day was chilly until we had to ask if there was an individual thermostat for the room. Our room was on the ground floor, and therefore had a small outside porch that opened onto a public space / walkway. We found our porch sliding doors unlocked two times after maid service - not cool. The hotel was notified of this dangerous security issue.
perfect! I love this hotel! The decor is beautiful. The view is fantastic. The location is gorgeous on a lane with breathtaking homes and scenery. Its a short walk to all the shops and restaurants, has a beach right across the street and an outdoor heated pool. We enjoyed the pub and the restaurant is lovely too. I wasn't in love with the menu, would have liked to see a few "less fully" options but the room and its panoramic view was still great. I paid for a queen room and got a king room that was also pretty, serene and co... read more
