Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. Nice stay Nice location. This was our first trip to the vineyard
Harbor View Hotel - wonderful Great hotel. We really enjoyed the view. The Resturant in the hotel was also wonderful too
Beautiful place to stay One of the best hotel views you will find on Martha's Vineyard. Just a 7 minute walk to downtown. Good parking. The walk across the street to the lighthouse and beach during sunrises and sunsets can't be matched. Water Street restaurant served a good breakfast and I had possibly the best steak I have ever eaten there. It was worth taking our car over on the ferry, we were not at the mercy of the transit system. We drove everywhere which enabled us to see everything. Great Great hotel. Highly recommend... read more
Best Hotel in Edgartown Pros: The staff was extremely courteous and helpful and we loved the simple elegance of the hotel. Also location, location, location! Cons: Henry's Pub! We feel they could definitely improve the menu and offer better options with the other restaurant closed in winter. Location: Within walking distance of downtown, 5 minute walk but far enough to not be caught in the busy downtown! Harbor View Hotel was a beautiful hotel to stay!! We would highly recommend it to anyone! We stayed in the main house in r... read more
Great staff and location Pros: The location is ideal, and the staff were exceptionally polite and helpful. Cons: Though the carpet and hallways could use a little freshening up, the rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable with good amenities.
Retreat Pros: Cleaniness and friendly staff. Cons: Since it was the off season; the hotel could have provided a gift bag with things to do on the island. Also, an afternoon tea would be great! Location: If you have a car you can get to the other inlets nearby...Oaks Bluff, Menemsha, Aquinna, etc. However, the shops in town was great! The hotel was awesome! Staff friendly and courteous and the room was very clean. Since it was the off season their was not a whole lot going on on thre other islands however, enjoyed myself dear... read more
Traveling the east coast First time ion the island. The hotel has a good location and is within walking distance to the town. Nice leisurely 10 min walk. Loved the ambiance of the area and the hotel. Sat on the front porch and read while enjoying a glass of wine and the view. Really nice. the pool was much larger than we had thought although we didn't use it since we were ther in October. The only word of warning I can give id book your ferry in advance.. We were stuck for many hours trying to get back because of the seasona... read more
