Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

Picture-perfect hotel and setting. The staff couldn't have been nicer. All of the amenities when we needed them. My husband arranged for a surprise birthday cake for me in the dining room and the hotel staff secretly arranged for it to happen with everyone walking in to sing Happy Birthday - I will definitely stay there again and will refer my friends to it as well
A Wonderful Retreat Pros: The best part was the view. Cons: They currently do not provide service on the terrace. I would recommend that they have cocktails and appetizers on the terrace. Location: You can sail, explore the island and go window-shopping The views from the Harbor View Hotel were breathtaking. It was a place to relax, explore and experience the beauty and quaintness of Martha's Vineyard. I would highly recommend it.
Beautiful hotel, serene location The only thing that was not perfect was the mildewy smell just inside the entrance to our building (we were not in the main section). Fortunately, it was not in our room. I highly recommend this lovely place.
we enjoyed our breakfast with a nice view to harbor and lighthouse
Stunning view Pros: The porch was lovely though there was a wedding on one of the nights so we couldn't sit out there. Ty was very helpful with my bags and car. Cons: I think if they are going to host weddings the bridal party should just book the whole hotel and it should be closed to other guests. Location: Edgartown is a charming town. We rented bikes and enjoyed the restaurants in town. Our stay at the Harbor View was a bit of a disappointment. I didn't realize that I reserved a room in another building situated behind t... read more
quaint hotel with phenomenal views! Pros: location, timeless look without the stuffiness, the bed & linens, staff was very friendly Cons: portions were small relative to price @ Water St. restaurant. our room overlooked the porte cochere which was loud when the garbage truck came early Location: Located in beautiful Edgartown, it is within walking distance to the town center, and commands amazing views & access to harbor & lighthouse We only got to stay one night, but it was delightful! While the hotel is actually quite larg... read more
Lovely hotel with stunning view Pros: Stunning view and lovely hotel facilities. Cons: Breakfast could be included in the cost of the room. The hotel is some distance from the main town so be prepared for a little walk at the end of the day. We were upgraded from a room to a suite which was lovely, but it wasn't part of the main hotel so we had to go back out of the hotel and through the pool area to reach it, but we had lovely weather so this wasn't a problem. The room we had was very quiet with no disturbances from other g... read more

Wonderful inn! Pros: Staff was helpful and the rooms were inviting. Great views from the long front porch! Location: Within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Great place to stay. Nice rooms and inviting porch with rockers! Wish we'd had more time to spend there.
