Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

A perfect spot overlooking the calm harbour of Edgartown. Location: I did not have time to explore properly so cannot comment. A really beautifully presented hotel with attentive and welcoming staff. I would definitely recommend that you visit this hotel. Although my visit was during the low season of November, and most places were closed for the season, I had a lovely time - beginning with a run around the point across sand and past the lighthouse. My room itself was located in the main house and had everything I could wish... read more
Great business hotel This is a newly renovated hotel with plenty of amenatys , the restaurant was absolutely outstanding , gorgeous swimming pool ,most beautiful landscaping ,personnel very helpful and friendly
Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard in the off- season It's a sane place during October, though swimming is out of the question for most. The hotel rates are much more affordable, but the service remains the same quality. The hotel restaurant and bar are excellent; locals are frequent customers. It is a short walk tom the town center and close o the Chappy ferry. October brings sales!
What a difference a great hotel can make! Loved it. The place is so charming and so Martha's Vineyard. I almost don't want to say too much because, believe me, you'll want to be surprised. I normally can't get too excited about hotels but this hotel is different - the feel, the ambiance, the restaurant (one of the best on the Island)... and its proximity to Edgartown (15min walk) and Oak Bluffs (10-15min drive).
Very Nice Property, But Poor Service The hotel is very nice - attractive, well-maintained, and in a very pretty area. We visited the premises during the off-season, however, and the service was quite poor. Our breakfast (which cost $40) took close to 45 minutes to arrive. After repeated requests for coffee refills, we found a pot and served ourselves. The front desk person offered to "upgrade" us and ended up sending us to our original room. He changed the reservation in the computer, however, so that our room was listed as ... read more
Good Stay with a good view The Harbor View is a lovely place to go. It is a very relaxing place to be. The rocking chairs on the porch are wonderful to rest and relax in. The food at the restaurant there is unbelievable. The best clam chowder I have ever had at Henry's. The only negative was our room was not made up for us when we got back at 5pm. They half blamed us instead of just making things right. I would stay here again.
