Worst rental experience in 30 + years of renting in Gulf Shores. We have rented beach property Kaiser, Meyer, and Reed. Never had a bad experience until Harris Properties. Three months in advance I began voicing a concern that the description of the property's access to the boardwalk was misleading. I could never get past the receptionist in 5 phone calls and 3 emails. We stayed in Junaluska’s Landing in Fort Morgan and we enjoyed ourselves. House is nice, not stellar though. It was clean and everything worked. We did not get to enjoy having our dog with us very much because of the horrible shape of the yard. There is nothing but sand spurs that stick to the puppy and shoes and everything else! So many that you track them up the stairs and into the house!! Horrible experience. Too many broken items in the home, including light bulbs, blinds, and hurricane shutters. Further, there was only one working smoke detector, the other two were missing off the ceiling. Cleaning was sub-par and the exterior landscape is in dyer need of maintenance. Home did not reflect the on-line pictures. I would not rent this home, Faxo Retreat, nor rent from Harris again. Their customer service is less than stellar. I'm here I was told I could go in at 1:30 pm instead of 3:30pm but it's now 3:49pm n my code is not working and they don't have anyone oncall cause I've called the office 3 tims n left 1 message n 2 messages started thencut off..,, so currently I'm sitting out side on the deck with my perishables melting... not a great first impression

Well when we arrived and saw the condo for the first time we were very pleased. It was clean and spacious. My mom and I went down the elevator to retrieve out luggage and the elevator got stuck. For 45 minutes me and my aging mother sat stuck in an elevator with NO air!! We used the 911 button twice. My best friend and two kids finally figured out we were stuck. An elderly lady that lives in the building told the kids to go to each floor to push buttons. That's how we got out!! When we finally got out, laid, cool down... read more

My family and I just returned from a weeks stay at Summer Winds. The beach was absolutely wonderful! The house on the other hand, not so much!! The house is in need of some serious repairs and updates. The floors are beat up! They are separated and buckled throughout the first floor. The subfloor sagged in several locations and felt as if it may fall through. Several outlets in the dining area didn't even work. We stayed in an amazing and beautifully maintained unit last year on spring break. This year- in March 2016- we ended up in a different unit called the Palmetto. As soon as we entered the unit there were multiple things wrong. This included a broken and inoperable oven, broken couch and master shower that did not work. When we quickly reported these problems they informed us they were already aware of the issues. Why did they rent it to us then?! They did an okay job of coming and fixing this after our arrival. Shame on you for not allowing that poor woman's family to reschedule their vacation after her mother's imminent death! That is no way to treat people and no way to increase your business standing! Not to mention that this time o year it should be easy to find another customer for that time.

I have never encountered a company this heartless. As explained in a previous review, this company refused to allow a young family to reschedule their rental because they cancelled 3 weeks in advance instead of the stipulated month. The circumstances necessitating the cancellation are tragic, and Harris Properties has added to this family's pain. I will join many others in not only refusing to rent from Harris Properties, but also in sharing this story wherever and whenever I can.
