Worst experience today with food and service. Never going again. They clearly don’t know how to handle guests. Food was bad one of my friend found strand of hair on her pasta. Last time i went for my birthday two years ago we waited 45 min for someone to even come to our table and take order and went today thinking they might have progressed but still disappointing.
We have been here several times and always enjoyed the food and service this time everything was off. The waiter came by to take our order and I asked him for just a couple more minutes to decide, well we did not see him again for another 15 minutes, We started with the gyoza and they were completely cold. We ended up ordering the chicken sandwich as we always enjoy that, but this time it was not good, the chicken was so small you could not even see it poking out from the bun which was burned and so was the bacon burned. The food environment and food were lovely but our service was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a long time for the following reasons: - the servers never checked in on us, only offered a drink 15 min after we sat down. - we were never notified our server was going on a break - drinks and food took forever, we sat down at 7:40 and did not leave I till 9:45. Food was cold and the service was awful. Eat here all the time so maybe just pre holiday staffing.
So disappointing! We have gone to Joey’s multiple times and it is one of our favorite restaurants! We tell everybody about how amazing the food and the service are! This last time was such a disappointment! We practically had to beg to get our drinks and water refilled! At one point, we timed it and it took 15 minutes for our empty glasses of water to be filled. Service was terrible. Drink orders were wrong. Food orders incomplete. Food was overcooked. Server was inattentive. Dirty dishes were piled by our table and ignored until some crashed to the floor and shattered.
Service was aweful! 2nd time in one week. Perhaps new management maybe in order.
I really wanted to enjoy my dinner at Joey Newport Beach, but the experience fell short on multiple levels. 1. The food was disappointing. My steak came out cold — not even warm to the touch — and the butter cake was dry and hard instead of moist and rich like it should be. 2. The checkout process felt rushed. Food is not all that for the price. They asked us if we were celebrating a special occasion. We answered in the affirmative - a birthday for a friend - but they didn’t do anything. Service was descent, not exceptional.
