food was horrible took to long to get serve and our food
Service was awful. Took 45 minutes to get a beer. Wanted to taste a wine before we ordered - that took 30 minutes. and the answer to us on why it was taking so long was "there are a lot of orders before us". Not a good answer.
Even with reservation, we had to wait 30 minutes
After SEVERAL amazing reviews for Joey Restaurant Newport Beach, I am bummed to say today was not the usual amazing experience. A friend and I were excited to go to Joey Newport Beach but unfortunately our Server Kaitlyn really missed the ball today. I initially ordered the hummus because Kaitlyn said there was no black pepper in it (which I have a medical allergy to). A few minutes later, the Manager came over to our table and said there actually is black pepper so I ordered a salad instead and asked Kaitlyn to please re... read more
Came here to celebrate my girlfriend getting into her masters program as well as our anniversary. It took about five minutes for us to get seated. We were there a bit early, which is no problem. My biggest issue is that it took nearly 35 minutes for us to even be seen by a waiter or anyone for that matter to check in on us after we were seated. we saw countless tables around this with bigger parties and parties the same size as us were seen almost right away. It wasn’t like we weren’t noticed. The majority of the staff ... read more
Have to say this visit was a bit of a disappointment. The food and service was good, however the food did come out a bit cold to the table. We were seated at the area outside the kitchen in the indoor dinning room and there was a constant parade of servers and bus people carrying loads of dirty dishes. The straw that broke the camel's back the lugging of a large trash can ready to be emptied past our table. Sorry, not the experience we hoped for.
We enjoy dining all over and enjoy different t price points and experiences. We have also dined at Joey’s on 3 other occasions. However, this time around with a family of 5, no dessert, 2 appetizers, and one cocktail, our bill was $345 before tip. We were extremely surprised! Service was good, although our server left halfway through our meal without saying goodbye. The manager was very kind and had another server refill our waters and cash us out. The quality of food did not match the high price. The ambiance is always grea... read more
Joey is a hopping place. The waitress was very attentive and the room is very nice. We had two appetizers, the guacamole and the hummus both of which were very good. I ordered the lobster spaghetti which was so salty that it was unedible and I sent it back. My date had a vegetarian dish which she seemed to like. All I can say is really hard to ruin spaghetti. I left hungry.
We celebrated a birthday which, for the first time, was ignored. The manager later offered us a desert which we declined. We had already completed our meal and deserts. Not up to Joey’s usual standard and a little disappointing.
