The lighting is very low! Make sure your phone is charged up as you will need your flashlight to be able to read the menu… seriously! Service was great! Food was average for that style of restaurant, although I find it a little overpriced.
Upon arrival, we told our waiter that we were in no rush. However our drinks were slow to come, arrived after our appetizers were already served and our meal arrived before our appetizers were done. Everything was out of sequence and the timing of everything was awful. The food was okay but not as good as other times or other locations. It was disappointing
Service was bad, it was like our server was ignoring our table & it was hard to order things. He saw us once when we were seated and once to pay our bill. The manager took care of the rest of the interactions.
We had an extremely disappointing experience at JOEY Rideau that unfortunately overshadowed what was otherwise a great one-night stay in Ottawa. We arrived for a confirmed reservation and still waited about 10 minutes to be seated, despite the restaurant being roughly half empty. I’ve been to Joey Rideau many, many times with my family. We come in for an early dinner reservation at 5pm and try to be quick about it. This was a big ask for our server that took 25 minutes to even approach us for our order. We also never got the usual water, even when we asked for it. We ordered several appetizers which arrived at the same times as our dinner, we could barely fit all the food on our table. I have enjoyed dining at Joeys many times in the past. Last night the service was poor. I had the lettuce roll ups and asked for more lettuce which I got but didn’t finish. It was never removed and was still sitting on the table when I left. My dirty main course plate was also sitting on the table when I left. I was never asked if I would like a dessert or coffee When I was half way through my main course I ordered another glass of wine.
