Atmosphere and food just Ok - I give it 6 months
Everything was great. Except when we got the bill we were charged for singer! Surprise. We were only there 10 minutes for the singer. We had theater tickets. That was misleading.
The food and service are great, the room is lovely and inviting. The BIG problem is the music, it is SO LOUD, I could hardly hear my dinner companion. They also seem to have automatic perfuming machine that comes on toward the end of the evening. It really interferes with tasting and fully appreciating the delicious food.
Mediocre and very expensive food
Our server was fantastic. The food was really good, but the Contorni sides had WAY too much oil. The insalata mista was served in the most awkward bowl and there wasn’t a good balance; lacked acid and crunch; arugula is lovely but some crunchy lettuce was needed in addition to it.
We very much looked forward to La Stella. Birthday celebration. Appetizers started off well. Carpaccio, octopus and frittura mista(lightly battered seafood) were all very good, although seafood was not hot?? Main course was a disaster-decided to try the $179-00 beef(was told by server supposed to be as tender as butter) beef was very tough and lots of sinew. Food was very bland and
Cool location in the Arts District and great food but pricey compared to similar restaurants. The atmosphere was intriguing initially until the smell of industrial paint wafted into the restaurant. It turns out painters were outside the building doing work at 8pm at night? We kind of expected something to be comped given the price point.
Bar stools were horrible, service was lacking, food was okay , not my Jam To many places nicer with better food for the $ Good location but doubt it will make it
