The location and look of the restaurant are the best parts of this restaurant. The food was not flavorful. It was overpriced, and the variety on the menu was limited. The wine list was fine but the wines were overpriced much like the food. With such a great location, this restaurant has really missed an opportunity to be great. I will not return however.
I have been here previously and had an outstanding experience. This time things were a bit off. We went prior to a show at Winspear Opera House. Service was slow. Drinks took a long time to get and had been clearly sitting around by the time we received them. They were out of the liquor for their special aperitif that I wanted. The restaurant is beautiful but very difficult to hear each other on a table for four. Also, the seating arrangement for 4 is two on booth like seating which is very difficult to get in when wearing dresses. The food was good but price/value seems high.
Stingy is the adjective that comes to mind. The prices are high but the food and drink didn’t match. When ordering a $20 glass of wine the pour was comparable to the amount given at a wine tasting; barely reached a quarter full of the glass. We were asked if we liked some bread and said yes. Come to find out later that they charged us $16 for it. The chicken marsala was good but wasn’t served on potatoes or pasta. We had to order potatoes for around $15 on the side. Our anniversary dinner at La Stella was supposed to be a highlight of our celebration, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. We arrived for our reservation, but were met with a longer-than-expected wait for our table. The setting, which promised an upscale dining experience, was marred by the presence of a bright, intrusive iPad for drink ordering - a stark contrast to the elegant wine menus at other tables. Food was not good at all, especially for the price.
Food was average much better Italian food in Dallas
The service was horrible. We got other people’s orders and saw it happening all over the restaurant. Food was just mediocre for the price. Would not return.
