Would not recommend for a quality meal. Just because it's in Kitz and is by the beach doesn't mean the food is good. Would avoid. I went here on a summer night with my parents. The wait was incredibly long so I assumed the food would be good. After about 30 mins of waiting, we were finally seated outdoors. Let me just mention that we went around 7. I had some friends visiting from Toronto. So of course I needed to bring them to Kits. Local has a very nice outside area. Tourist like this spot. It's beautiful. I will say, I was a bit embarrassed though. My friends were on a time crunch and the service was so slow. When I say slow I mean SLOW. We felt like the server just kept forgetting about us. We stopped in for a quick pint and a snack on a Thursday afternoon around 3pm. The place was fairly busy but there were quite a few staff working. We were seated and then waited at least 10 minutes to even see a menu. Following that, it took another 10 minutes for a waitress to finally come and take our order. We have driven by this place several times and it looked like a happening place so we thought before we take a stroll on the beach we would grab lunch here. Unfortunately it was a big let down. The atmosphere was very laid back and the overall setting of the bar/restaurant was intriguing, the service itself and the food did not match the book on the cover. Being a resident of the neighbourhood I go to the Local quite often. I would have rated it 4 stars in the past but my past two visits have been less than mediocre. In March I went with a group of friends and ordered two fish tacos ($5 each). The tacos were very skimp on the fish in comparison to usual, tasted more like a mouthful of batter rather than a fish taco. Came here on the weekend with family. A truck came crashing into the restaurant. Glass shattered and loud screaming. It was a scary experience. Hope the man was ok...Was not able to touch my food but will have to come back another time. Staff was ok..

This is my first time in Vancouver and my first time at this establishment. I came in on a Saturday during brunch. My waitress informed me that I was not able to order the meal I wanted during brunch hours because of overwhelming brunch orders coming through the kitchen.
