Their esimate was much too high. They quoted me $25,000. I ended up going with a company that only charged me $4000.
The roof does not look like a new roof-- It has bumps, wrinkles, dips, valleys. We have called Lon Smith Roofing several times to get an inspector here. After several phone calls, finally one does show up and does some repair work. Again we call and call to have more work done, and finally we get an inspector to do more repair work. I called for a roof leak repair after a major storm, and the company came out and gave an estimate for repair. They also gave me an estimate for replacement of the entire roof, indicating that there was hail damage to the entire roof, and suggesting that I contact my insurance company. We agreed to the emergency repairs and decided to work with my insurance company in the meantime concerning the roof replacement. Contacted Lon Smith for an estimate via their website signup for estimate. After 2 weeks I had to contact by phone because no one responded to the website signup. Estimator came out, did not get up on my 2 story roof, but made an estimate. He didn't ask me about color or type of shingle and showed me no samples. HORRIBLE! The roofing crew got in our garage and stole tools. For most of the job there was no supervisor and no one who spoke English. The young son of one of the Mexican roofers (about age 10) opened his pants in an apparent attempt to solicit a sexual encounter from the male homeowner. Homeowner called company to remove crew IMMEDIATELY!!! Roofing job itself was acceptable at the time, but later we found that the shingles were defective - lost granules and started to crumble. The dispatcher/office mgr/whomever answered the phone was brisk and became border-line rude when I asked to have a repairman come out the same day I called. To be fair, it had been a major rain storm and I am sure they were overwhelmed with calls. The professionalism, promptness and courtesy of the repairman totally completely made up for a possibly overburdened employee. Contacted the company first in July. They did not call back. Called them again (was a small leak in garage so it was not top of mind) in September and they sent someone out to look at the leak. The contact took pictures and said that someone would get back to me shortly with an estimate. I have called twice since then and was told that someone would get back to me. They never have. I am giving up and will find someone else to fix the problem.
When no one showed up on Wed morning, we called their ofc & was dismissed with a "they will show up eventually" answer. Crew lead came by @ noon & said they would be there shortly. When asked what 'shortly' meant, he said 'an hour'. 3 hrs later they did & worked until 8. Came back at 7 on Thurs & finished up at dark. We had to closely monitor their work. ROOF WAS REPLACED IN A TIMELY MANNER, BUT THE ROOF LEAKED AROUND THE CHIMNEY CAUSING WATER DAMAGE TO SHEETROCK INSIDE THE HOUSE. THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND ROOF VENTILATION AT ALL. THEY INSTALLED EXTRA ROOF VENTS THAT I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THEM NOT TO INSTALL, THEN TOOK MONTHS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEIR COMMUNICATION IS TERRIBLE.
