Overall the food is good. Some things are better than others. The sushi is quite good for a restaurant that serves American fare as well as Asian food. Both varieties of potstickers are good. The filet spring roll is a real disappointment - it’s huge but very heavy ( it’s an egg roll not a spring roll) and bland the orange sauce on it is horrible. The short rib sandwich is good. It's rare for me to pay for a pricey meal and feel like it was truly worth it, but from appetizer to dessert, I can say that the Metropolitan Café was worth every penny. My entree was the special of the day, which was a rib-eye steak with garlic mashed potatoes, and I wish it were on the regular menu. My date had the seafood risotto, which included the most perfectly cooked scallops I've ever had. For dessert we had the pecan fudge with caramel ice-cream, and it was a delight for me. Delicious! Steak was done perfectly. The kitchen accommodated my request to change my side from grits to vegetables. Another perfect dish!
Great local place with nice ambience Food & Sushi is always spot on. Service is always pleasant It’s a good spot for date night or to take your clients.
We met a friend that lived far. Freehold is about halfway for us. The food was good. I had Sushi that I really enjoyed, My friend had Grilled Cheese which she said was delicious. My husband had a Ragout which was just so-so nothing worth noting. The table next to us was REALLY noisy and made it hard to talk. Service was decent. I would recommend trying it definitely.
Always good food and service one of my favorite restaurants!
