This was a total disaster as none of our expectations were met. I originally selected Montell Construction to do our deck based on the recommendation of a cousin. Things he pointed out that he loved about how his lovely multi-level deck was done: • Very careful attention to how the deck fit against the house and the neat fit against the siding and doors opening onto the deck • Placing the decking bark side up to minimize the possibility of cupping • Carefully setting the screws just below the surface of the boards, not deepl... read more

Inferior work, poor customer service. I contracted with Montell to replace my composite decking. The work was rushed with inaccurate cuts and sloppy workmanship. When I complained, the same person that did the original work came back to make the repairs. He was useless. Montell will not come out to fix his botched attempts at making things right. I regret contracting with this company and would not recommend them to anyone.

Quality construction, but very frustrated by errors in project management. We are very satisfied with the work Montell did, and with most of the people involved. But from day one, there were repeated problems with communication, and those involved took a nonchalant attitude and never attempted to fix or apologize for the issues: 1. Outstanding. We had a large project re-doing our deck with some changes. I would only have great things to say about Montell: prompt, neat, organized, knowledgeable and quality work and products. They were easy to discuss things with and very cooperative.

Deck redone Be careful of what they tell you and what the contract says. Matt told me how the steps would be and when they got here it had changed. My fault for not reading the contract but fact remains he lied to me, not once but twice.

Poor drivers I had the unfortunate experience of encountering this company on the road. The man driving the pickup was very aggressive, tailgating unnecessarily, braking too close, and making sudden lane changes. Will avoid business the way they’ve avoided common courtesy and safety.
