This here is a pretty sub par gym. Its pretty small and most of their equipment seems to be fairly old. No one seems to really care at this gym, either. Some gyms you go to and they have smiling, friendly staff members who value your membership with them. Other gyms don't seem to care if you're a member or not, and make it obvious. This Mountainside Fitness is the latter.
I am irritated with the customer service. I have called customer service and put in hold forever or they pick up and hang up on me. I canceled my membership and was asked for a copy of my cancel form, what kind of incompetent people run this place where they don't have a copy of documentation or have it to access.
There are many fitness centers, personal business should be earned; they lack that good customer service. Had my 10 day pass been there once and not coming back there ever!
This gym is terrible!!! It is the worst Mountainside Fitness in the entire valley. It is definitely not worth the money - it is dark inside, small, cramped, and the machines are very old other than the cardio equipment. It just feels musty inside. You are much better off for your money joining LA fitness..... We have been very happy loyal customers there for almost 10 years. Although we do charge a 25% buy out, to avoid this Mountainside Fitness always offers a transfer of the remaining contract to family, friends, or neighbors. This is a nice gym - clean and nice staff. I am glad they finally got rid of most of the step classes. Felt like I was stuck in the 80s! The bootcamp style and muscle classes are good and so are the instructors. The gym is not overcrowded.

This location compared to the other mtn sides I've been to (Peoria, Indian Bend, Carefree) is terrible. It's just obsolete in every category when looked at side by side. Some of the others have theaters, boxing rings and locker rooms that don't smell like sweat ALL the time. I just feel like you get completely screwed by paying the 100$ family plan and having this being the closest location. SO FAR SO GOOD! :) After reading through some yelp and google reviews...and due to distance...I decided to give Mountainside Fitness a shot. I walked in and was nicely greeted by 2 upbeat gentlemen at the front desk. I told them I wanted to speak with someone in Membership. I have been a member of this location since it opened. We moved to a family plan for 98.00 a month. Since no one is really using the membership I decided to downgrade back to myself. ( the original member) By doing so they are raising my personal rate to 39.00 per month!!! My original membership was 26.00 and prior to changing to a family plan it was only 29.00 The Manager clearly wanted nothing to do with attempting to keep a long standing member. This was a great gym when I first joined but I made the mistake of scheduling classes with a private instructor. My instructor bailed on me after cancelling several appointments. When I complained and tried to get a new instructor, nothing happened. Eventually I ended up calling corporate to explain that I wanted a refund and they refused to refund me. I managed to escalate the issue up the management chain and instead of taking responsibility for failing to provide me with a new instructor, the guy in charge started blaming... read more
