This location compared to the other mtn sides I've been to (Peoria, Indian Bend, Carefree) is terrible. It's just obsolete in every category when looked at side by side. Some of the others have theaters, boxing rings and locker rooms that don't smell like sweat ALL the time. I just feel like you get completely screwed by paying the 100$ family plan and having this being the closest location. Plus at the others they actually have the cardio equipment more spread out instead of right on top of each other. Again just feel like ... read more
SO FAR SO GOOD! :) After reading through some yelp and google reviews...and due to distance...I decided to give Mountainside Fitness a shot. I walked in and was nicely greeted by 2 upbeat gentlemen at the front desk. I told them I wanted to speak with someone in Membership. The membership gal was busy with another customer so they told me they were familiar with some membership information and asked if they could help me. We chatted for a bit during which they were very helpful. I asked if I could tour the sauna and steam ro... read more
I have been a member of this location since it opened. We moved to a family plan for 98.00 a month. Since no one is really using the membership I decided to downgrade back to myself. ( the original member) By doing so they are raising my personal rate to 39.00 per month!!! My original membership was 26.00 and prior to changing to a family plan it was only 29.00 The Manager clearly wanted nothing to do with attempting to keep a long standing member. I will take my business elsewhere. This gym has gone down hill over the years... read more
This was a great gym when I first joined but I made the mistake of scheduling classes with a private instructor. My instructor bailed on me after cancelling several appointments. When I complained and tried to get a new instructor, nothing happened. Eventually I ended up calling corporate to explain that I wanted a refund and they refused to refund me. I managed to escalate the issue up the management chain and instead of taking responsibility for failing to provide me with a new instructor, the guy in charge started blaming... read more
I went to Mountainside in Mesa, AZ last night thinking I may switch to them from LA Fitness. The reason I was thinking of switching was I thought they had more to offer in terms of opportunities for my children. When I arrived, the ONLY Guest Services Rep was on break. HE came out to us 10 minutes later (when the front desk person told him we were waiting) and sat at his desk waiting for us to come to him rather than for him to come to us. That was already a BAD sign. Once my children and I went over to his desk he asked how... read more
It's a nice gym. I was a member for the past 5.5 years, but I recently quit. Although the gym itself is quite clean, the television system is a nightmare. Despite several complaints to management, there still are only 8 functiioning television stations. And of those stations, one is Fox News...nuff said...one is the Child Care Center, and the rest are sports/junk. Other Mountainside locations offer a full range of television options, but not this one. This used to be the very best place to work out in northeast Mesa, but now... read more
Be very careful with this gym. Will give you one price and later charge your credit card a different price. Told my month-to-month membership was just that -- month-to-month. However later when I tried to cancel, they they kept making excuses as to why I needed to be charged another month -- then another month -- they didn't care I was no longer going to the gym and moved out of state. They are worse than Bally's. Google them and you'll see. No wonder the entire company is in bankruptcy.
I am on a corporate membership so I pay for my year upfront and therefore do not ever have to deal with membership/payment/contract issues with this gym. This particular location is a lot smaller and older than some of the new, huge, full service Mountainsides popping up. That being said, I really like the feel. It is less crowded, the classes do NOT fill up 20 minutes beforehand like many gyms I have been to and it is very low key. The personal trainers NEVER bother you to sign up, etc. etc. which is why I have stayed with ... read more
This gym is very crowded, often hard to get on a working machine. Lots of machines out of order and fans not working. It is kept too warm especially when fans aren't working. They don't fix things in a timely manner. It is kept very clean. I had a friend who had been a member for a long time and asked them to match his rate for his new wife. They let him walk away instead of matching a price.
